To Berlusconi With Little Love: We are Not Your Concubines

Just Another George Clooney?You would think that Minister Berlusconi who has had more sexual scandals than all of the other politicians combined would learn not only to stop cavorting with prostitutes and escorts, but also to keep his mouth shut. Just recently, the European politician we seem to hear the most about offended many women after he commented that Rosy Bindy, an older woman, was “more beautiful than intelligent.”

The only bright spot in this story is how the women are fighting back and showing their solidarity with other women. Senator Patrizia Bugano, who is my new heroine, announced that, “Someone tell Berlusconi he’s no George Clooney”, which definitely paints a scary picture if I imagine them both in the nude.

While the article mentions that some conservative women are maintaining support for Berlusconi, there are plenty of women behind the scenes on Facebook and in the media. One of the best media slogans states: “We are not your concubines.”  There is also a petition circulating that has been signed by 97,000 women that simply states: Women offended by the Premier. To which I say, “You go girls!” Let’s hear it for the sisterhood. If a leader of a country has such little respect for the women of the country, how much respect can his followers (specifically married men) have for their own wives?

And why isn’t Berlusconi scared  by 97,000 pissed off women? If I were in his shoes, I would be cowering under the table.  He’s just offended roughly half the country and for nothing but his own selfish ego and dim-witted ideas about women. I hope the women of Italy continue to show their teeth when they are oppressed.

To give you a clue of Berlusconi’s “luck with the ladies”, check out this Life Magazine photo gallery entitled “Berlusconi’s Women”.  Note how one fair lass looks to be about 17.  Vanity Fair also ran a similar feature around the same time. He obviously is of the mindset that because he is rich and powerful, he can use or talk rudely about just about any woman he would like. Not to mention the fact that he can sleep with just about any woman he likes.

Part of the man’s idiocy also stems from him actually making sex tapes, which reminds me of the politicians here bragging about their conquests. My advice to all of the Berlusconis out there, is simple: Keep it in your pants and stop talking shit about women.
