Hypocritical Republican "Screws" Up

The Intern and Her BoyfriendWhile nothing will ever be quite as exciting for me as Larry Craig's nuanced toe-tapping in a rather unfortunate place, I still love a good sex scandal when I see one. This particular scandal involves Tennessee Republican lawmaker Paul Stanley, who is in his 40's, but looks much older. Please do not confuse him with this Paul Stanley of KISS.

Paul Stanley is a self-described evangelical Christian who made the all-too-common "Intern Mistake". In this case, "The Intern" who is much better-looking than Monica Lewinsky ever was, was allegedly thoughtful enough to take video and pictures of sex acts in lieu of saving any clothing articles.

Her boyfriend then attempted to blackmail Paul Stanley through a series of text messages, which definitely says something about the both the digital age and the boyfriend's lack of stealthiness. The boyfriend demanded large sums of cash and the good Senator responded by calling the authorities. I am guessing he was more worried about his wallet than his reputation. The authorities are now after the boyfriend.

Although there is an affadavit by Paul Stanley in which he admits to sexual relations with "The Intern", he has denied it publicly thus far, but may speak about it soon.

While there is nothing technically wrong with screwing your interns, I just wish that these Republican lawmakers would re-think their stupid Family Values platforms and consider the fact that what sounds good on paper DOES NOT work out so well in reality. How can they counsel teenagers to avoid sex until marriage when they cannot keep in their pants outside of their own matital vows?
