Some Thoughts on Porn

porn starLately, I’ve been pondering the current trend of DIY porn and the Internet, which have totally changed the face of the porn industry by making porn more accessible and more mainstream. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

For one thing, the people in the “old-fashioned” porn flicks all looked the same: the women had triple D boob jobs that looked more like over-inflated basketballs than actual breasts and mostly had bleach blonde hair that was nearly white. The men all looked like people you would never willingly allow anywhere near your home- think of Schneider from “One Day at a Time” for a visual. Although I’m obviously not an expert on the porn industry, I think it’s safe to say that most of the men were hired for one reason and one reason only- their schlong size.

With the Internet and sites like youporn and pornotube, the times have definitely changed.  A lot of the women in the home-made videos actually still have their natural breasts, some of them even have tummies, and believe it or not, a few of them even have their natural mousy brown hair. The men actually look better than they do in the “professional” porno flicks and most of them don’t have ten inches to show off, which should be encouraging for the average guy.

And the sex is real. I personally haven’t made a sex tape and have publicly stated that I wouldn’t advise it for any celebrities or politicians, but I have the feeling that most of the people who like to put their home videos on the net are doing it because they think it’s sexy- they enjoy it. Some might get a little famous, but their names will never be known- sometimes their faces aren’t shown, and years down the road, they might get a thrill from seeing their younger bodies caught on “tape”.

Thinking about the differences in porn also got me wondering if all of the young men who grew up with old-school porn got so accustomed to the Pamela Anderson fake breasts and platinum hair that they started to equate that with sexiness, and accepted their normal looking wives and girlfriends in a different way and thus, the Madonna versus the Slut complex.

Maybe with more amateur porn out there, this generation of teenagers will grow up seeing more porn, but will also have the chance to see some more realistic sex with real people with real bodies.
